Notice: Collection, Use, and Disclosure of Your Child’s Personal Information
PBIS Rewards complies with the Children’s Online Privacy Protection Act, otherwise known as COPPA.
This notice describes our practices concerning the collection, use, and disclosure of personal information from children under the age of 13. Our limited use of this information is described here and in detail in the PBIS Rewards Terms of Service that describes our commitment to your School/School District.
1. Consent
Your School/School District has consented to our collection of this information so that we can deliver the PBIS Rewards service to your child and to the school. COPPA allows for educational institutions to act as a parent’s agent in certain educational contexts. This is outlined in the Federal Trade Commission’s document titled “Complying with COPPA: Frequently Asked Questions” (covered in Section M on “COPPA and Schools”).
2. Information We Collect
We collect the following information about your child directly from the School/School District:
- Your child’s first and last name.
- Your child’s School ID Number.
- We may receive information that lists your child’s grade, gender, and ethnicity.
- We may receive your child’s school photo.
We may collect the following information directly from your child if they use the PBIS Rewards Student Portal or the PBIS Rewards Student App.
- Your child’s School ID number and your child’s initials.
- The device ID for any mobile device that your child is using with the PBIS Rewards Student App if the school allows students to make purchases from the PBIS Rewards Student App.
- Purchase requests from a school-provided or teacher-provided store.
3. Use of Information We Collect
We use your child’s personal information internally so that they can see their own progress with your School/School District’s PBIS initiatives. We use device ID information internally so that we can allow your child to request purchases from the app and do so securely. We also provide reports to the School/School District so that they can see your child’s progress.
4. Who we Disclose Information to
If your school purchases ID Cards from PBIS Rewards, then we disclose your child’s personal information to a third-party who manufactures the ID Cards. We work only with ID Cards manufacturers who understand Student Data Privacy and who adopt the same policies used by PBIS Rewards.
If your child uses the Purchase Request feature of the PBIS Rewards service, then we share this purchase request with the School/School District so that they can determine if they will fulfill the child’s purchase request. We do not save this purchase request after it has been processed by the School/School District, but there will be a record of the purchase within the system and available by reports accessible only by the School/School District.
5. Verifying Consent
Because our consent comes directly from the School/School District, our contract for services with the School/School District includes consent.
