Back-to-School Tips in the PBIS Rewards Staff App
The PBIS Rewards Staff App is your go-to for all things PBIS in your school. Designed especially for staff and administrators, the app enables you to quickly recognize students and easily award points. To maximize your use of PBIS Rewards, follow these tips:
Use Your Phone
PBIS Rewards can be used on a computer, tablet, and smartphone. In the classroom, a computer or tablet is a great option, but adding the mobile app to your smartphone means you can take it anywhere. If you are a first-time user of PBIS Rewards, you will need to create a login through the web portal. Once you have this login established, you can download the mobile app and login on your smartphone or tablet. PBIS Rewards utilizes single sign-on through Clever or Class Link as well as a standard username/password login protocol.
Increase Fidelity with Star Rewards
Encourage yourself to use PBIS Rewards with fidelity this entire school year with Star Rewards! You will receive one star upon logging into the system for the day. A second star is awarded as you award a point to a student. A third star is awarded when you have reached your Daily Point Goal. If you do not have a Daily Point Goal, or you are untracked, the third star is awarded as you reward students from a group. The Staff App allows you to see your stars and streaks while on the go and is a helpful reminder to award points as you get started with your initiative.
Recognize Your Students More Frequently
The Staff App allows you to recognize your students with points anytime, anywhere. Frequency of recognition is key to helping them develop positive behavioral habits. The more often you recognize your students for demonstrating schoolwide values, the greater the progress you (and your fellow educators) will see in the improvement of school climate.
Create Groups
When it comes to recognizing a number of students all at once, you can’t beat PBIS Rewards’ Groups feature! Any staff member can create a group – grade level, classroom, team, lab partners, etc. – and use the app to recognize that group quickly and easily.
Favorite Grade Level Groups and Other Teachers’ Groups
To keep storage utilization low on your smart device, you will only have access to groups you are an owner or co-owner of and groups you favorite. Favorite a group in the Staff Web Portal by clicking on the star in the upper right corner of that group. Favorite all the grade level groups you work with so you can easily give points to all students in that grade level during recess, lunch, a field trip, assembly, etc.
Use Most of Your Favorite Features No Matter Where You Are
Recognize a student, use CICO, send a message, help students redeem points, create student authorization codes, and access Teacher Rewards no matter where you are with the Staff App.
Think Outside the Smartphone
It may not always be feasible to have your phone out. You can use the Staff App on more than just your smartphone. Use it on a tablet, iPad, or even a Kindle Fire!
Scan QR Codes
Use the ID Printing option and QR Code Roster of your class(es) to easily access QR Codes to scan with the Staff App to give points to students. Bonus: you can use QR codes to make things easier for subs when you’re out of the classroom!

Starting off a brand-new school year with PBIS Rewards in place can make routines and processes run more smoothly. Many schools begin the school year by teaching students about school values and behaviors. In PBIS, these values and behaviors become part of the schoolwide behavior matrix, which spells out what these values look like in action. Recognizing students for positive behaviors using PBIS Rewards can help take some of the chaos out of the first few weeks of school. As the year progresses, maintaining your PBIS initiative is a matter of review and adjustment as needed. Even getting back into the groove after a break can be easier for both staff and students.
