In the second part of our chat with Movelle Primary School in Australia, we dug a little deeper into the challenges and successes of implementing PBIS and using PBIS Rewards in an Australian school.
Like many schools around the world, the primary challenge Movelle has faced in their implementation is an ever-changing school environment. The Covid-19 pandemic continues to shift staff and students between in-person learning and lockdowns. Keeping tabs on student and staff emotions, reteaching expectations, and engaging parents in a positive manner are all part of PBIS implementation at Movelle.

One thing that has made PBIS successful at Movelle is staff buy-in. Throughout the process, the administration has moved slowly with implementation and sought staff input along the way. They understand that it is necessary to build trust and empower teachers to make PBIS an integral part of their classrooms. Administrators Karen Wood and Melissa Searle leaned into the Kotter Model for change to introduce PBIS to their staff. This process has worked so well that Movelle boasts an unheard-of 99% buy-in rate!
