Social-Emotional Learning is the development of “soft skills” – those qualities that improve self-awareness and emotional maturity. Many educators integrate SEL into the curriculum as a part of their lesson plans and keep tabs on individual student progress. Encouraging social and emotional development is an important part of academic achievement, and can translate into greater success as students become adults entering the workforce.
SEL/Status Check In Features
As a NEW enhanced feature in our software, SEL/Status Check allows educators to initiate an status check-in for any student, any time. Now, you can assess the social and emotional state of your students with:
- Fully customizable SEL settings that allow schools to choose categories, emojis, colors, and descriptions
- Reports that can be customized to include specific data points, such as gender or ethnicity
- In-depth reporting that provides an overview of all students, allowing educators to pinpoint those individuals at highest risk
- The ability to check on individual students as well as select students at random to do spot checks
Depending on your school and classroom needs, you can initiate status check ins daily, weekly, or randomly – whatever makes sense for your students. Your school also has the option to keep the feature name as SEL Check or change it to the more neutral title of Status Check.
Tracking Social-Emotional Development
As you move through your status check-in schedule, you’ll discover which students would benefit from additional help or guidance. In a virtual setting, this information can be invaluable. But whether you’re in a virtual environment or in the physical classroom, development of these skills will benefit your students.
We developed SEL/Status Check to provide a more complete PBIS experience, and it’s a FREE add-on to our software. If you’d like to know more or would like a demo of this new feature, please contact us. We’re here to help!
