Can you incorporate Social and Emotional Learning into your classroom, no matter what that classroom looks like? Absolutely! SEL is an important part of student success, especially in differing educational environments. Social and Emotional Learning can and should be part of your curriculum, and you can adapt it to fit the format of your classroom.
SEL Principles in Every Classroom Environment
Virtual learning, hybrid learning, and face-to-face learning all benefit from an intentional focus on the development of “soft skills.” These skills – self-management, self-awareness, social awareness, relationship skills, and responsible decision-making – are core competencies for success in the classroom and beyond.
Our Fall Webinar Series focuses on Social and Emotional Learning, and to kick off the series we invited two experts in the field of behavior and PBIS:
- Jessica Hannigan, Assistant Professor, Educational Leadership Department, California State University, Fresno
- John Hannigan, Executive Leadership Coach, Fresno County Superintendent of Schools
The Hannigans are educators and authors of several books focusing on behavior, PBIS, and SEL. Their newest book, SEL From a Distance, addresses how to incorporate SEL into any learning environment.
