This year’s PBIScon celebrated the difference-makers, the encouragers, the ones who help to make our world a better place: educators. Truth be told, we celebrate educators every single day here at PBIS Rewards… and PBIScon helps us to magnify that celebration. Our conference exists to energize educators, give them information and tools to take back to their schools, and provide a means for networking and sharing.
Highlights from PBIScon22
Now that PBIScon22 is in our rear view, let’s take a look at some of the highlights:
Four Fantastic Keynotes
On Day One, Jeremy Anderson opened our conference with a passionate keynote address that set the tone for the entire two-day event. He reminded educators that teaching is a calling and the called are a little bit crazy, doing the same things repeatedly and hoping for different results. (Just a reminder: “called and crazy” is the default for most educators, and that’s a good thing!) Houston Kraft finished out Day One with a keynote focusing on kindness and how to be intentional about showing kindness at school and in the community. Our Day Two opening keynote speaker, Kayla Dornfeld, reminded educators that they are called to be lifelong learners and to create leaders among their students. Closing out our conference was Chadijah Williams, who encouraged educators to make self-care a priority because what they do is essential.
27 Breakout Sessions
PBIScon22 focused on five session tracks:
- Social-Emotional Learning
- PBIS
- PBIS Rewards
- Staff Buy-In and Community Involvement
- Staff Culture, Teacher Retention, & Work-Life Balance
We asked our presenters to BRING IT and THEY DID! Our presenters came from schools across the country and around the world (shout out to South Africa and Australia!). They shared what they’ve been doing to make a difference for both students and staff. Every single session was filled with great information and lots of discussion. We also offered non-PBIS Rewards users an opportunity to see how our software works and how it can simplify a PBIS initiative.
