The RISE Academy spotlight session excerpt:
Newton County School District’s alternative program, RISE Academy, will showcase their success at the GELI conference on September 9-10, 2019 in Atlanta. The highly successful program implemented in grades 6-12 is based solely on the power of relationships and high expectations. Students are greeted with the RISE motto “Second Chances…..New Beginnings”. Staff and students are expected to be respectful, responsible, and remarkable at all times. These three simple concepts create a welcoming climate where students feel loved, respected, and embraced with delight. RISE students quickly experience success and begin a journey of transformation academically, behaviorally, and emotionally. Hear how consistency, positive redirection, and relationships can quickly improve any school’s culture. “RISE revolves around PBIS Rewards. We couldn’t do what we do without it. Any school can experience the same success by simply setting the expectations high, teaching the expectations, and consistently rewarding students as they strive to be their best!”
